Dear Annie,
Thank you for introducing me to Soap Nuts! This has opened a whole new avenue of environmentally friendly alternatives in our house.
Our main focus with the Soap Nuts, so far, has been for washing; which we have found is far cleaner and still acceptably soft even though we use no softener. Which is great because the skin irritation around elastic wastebands has become a thing of the past.
The most important though is the environmental impact. We live on a farm with a septic tank and had a horrible smell because all the drain water goes in the same pit. Yet since using Soap Nuts, we have no bad smells at all - which I can tell you is pure bliss, especially now in the hot summer months!
We have started using a Soap Nut and herb solution (with a dash of bicarb) as shampoo which we are still tweaking to our liking. But we are happy with the results so far - even my hubby is using it. I will give you a recipe when we have it perfected!
Thanks again for a great product.
Warm regards
Janet Gormley

There aren't many suppliers of soap nuts in South Africa, but I discovered one site that sells them, reasonably inexpensively. Visit
www.naturesoap.co.za On this site you can discover the various uses of Soap Nuts as well as order them for R85 per 500g. Here are some of the uses of soap nuts that I’ve found have made them a staple in MY home:...”
